Herbstalk Event

 June 2 & 3 2018

The Armory Somerville, MA

Herbstalk is a grassroots, Boston-area herbal event. We host classes on herbal and holistic health topics, offer urban plant walks, and bring together herbal crafters & artisans from across New England and beyond.

Our focus is on community. Our spirited events inspire and educate people about the art and science of herbalism.

We want to create a more beautiful and healthy world by offering a gathering place to exchange herbal and plant-based knowledge. We welcome people of all backgrounds and experiences who share our vision of community and well-being.

As a mission-driven organization our goals are to: Offer accessible & high-quality educational opportunities; Provide a platform that highlights the work of local and emerging herbalists; Connect, strengthen & beautify our local communities; Facilitate a direct relationship to plants and the natural world.

We are a welcoming bunch, and everyone from professional herbalists & practitioners to herbal novices (and people passing on the street) enjoy our events.

Join us for any of the following:

  • a wide range of classes on herbal and holistic health topics
  • urban plant walks focusing on local plant identification
  • a vibrant marketplace featuring handmade herbal products & remedies, live plants, and herbal schools
  • local food vendors providing delicious meals

If you wish to attend classes we encourage you to get tickets in advance, as space is limited.

You can also just show up the day of the event to browse the Marketplace, shop and have lunch - entry is free and open to the public all weekend!

 . . .

Herbstalk was founded in 2011 by wife-and-husband team, Steph Zabel and Henry Kesner. With a shared love of plants, they originally met while working in a botanical museum. At the time Steph was an herbal student and felt called to create a gathering for people of all backgrounds to exchange and celebrate their plant knowledge.

When Steph asked Henry to help create the kind of community event that she envisioned, he enthusiastically agreed and instantly came up with the name "Herbstalk"! Together with their dear friend Catherine Iagnemma they are the creative force behind Herbstalk.

Along with a dedicated volunteer team
(including our parents, relatives and friends from near and far) we devote hundreds of hours to organizing events and expanding upon Herbstalk's vision of offering accessible herbal education for everyone.
